Lagos police to deploy biometrics in tackling crime

The Lagos State Police Command has said it will work with the National Identity Management Commission in capturing the biometrics of Lagos residents so as to boost forensic investigations and curb crimes in the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, stated this when he received the NIMC Regional Coordinator, Mrs Funmi Opesanwo, at the command headquarters in Ikeja.

Odumosu, according to a release by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Muyiwa Adejobi, directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Finance and Administration, Oqua Etim, to instruct police personnel within the state to be captured by the commission.

The CP emphasised the importance of “biometrics and database management to prevent and detect crimes, proper identification of residents, and having accurate population of Lagos State and Nigeria at large.”
