Reports say a man who set himself on fire outside the Manhattan court where former President Donald Trump’s hush-money trial is being held has died.
Maxwell Azzarello, a 37-year-old man, tragically died after setting himself on fire shortly after jury selection for Trump’s trial had concluded.
Azzarello doused himself in a flammable liquid and threw conspiracy-theory pamphlets into the air before igniting the flames.
Disturbing videos captured the horrifying moment when Azzarello was engulfed in fire at Collect Pond Park, opposite the Manhattan Criminal Courthouse.
He collapsed to the ground, letting out a chilling scream.
Despite immediate efforts by bystanders and emergency services, Azzarello was transferred to Cornell University’s burn unit in critical condition.
Sadly, he later succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
Trump was present in the courthouse during the incident but left the building as the situation unfolded.
Three NYPD officers and one court officer sustained minor injuries while attempting to control the fire.
