Ministry Of Foreign Affairs Denies Dealings With Controversial PFIPC – WATCH VIDEO
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has told the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee investigating the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) that the council has no official relationship with the ministry.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dunoma Ahmed, who represented the minister, said the ministry rejected three requests from the council between June 2025 and June 2026 seeking collaboration for a World Investment Summit after due diligence raised concerns about its legitimacy and leadership.
Ahmed also disclosed that clarification sought from the Office of the National Security Adviser confirmed that enquiries with the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President showed the individual behind the council was unknown to the Federal Government.
He added that the ministry never entered into any partnership with the council, signed no agreement, or issued directives to Nigerian missions abroad on its behalf.
Chairman of the committee, Yusuf Gagdi, questioned why no decisive action was taken despite the security findings while other lawmakers faulted the absence of the Minister of Finance and other invited officials who decided representatives to stand in for them.
The committee summoned National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu to explain the actions taken after confirming the council was not a recognised government agency and directed the Minister of Foreign Affairs to appear in person at its next sitting.
