One person has died and two others injured in a tragic gas cylinder explosion at a vulcanizer’s shop in Kpakungun, a suburb of Minna.

The incident happened on Christmas Day with the victims identified as Zakari Aliyu, Mohammed Usman Baba and Umar Mohammed.

Eyewitnesses reported that the incident occurred when Mohammed Usman Baba, the shop owner, used the gas cylinder for a customer. After the cylinder was used, it was placed to be recharged.

“The cylinder became hot, and Zakari, who was an apprentice, fetched water to cool it down as they usually do. However, as he poured water on it, the cylinder exploded, scattering his body,” said Faisal Avuya, an eyewitness.
