POLICE ARREST I65 ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS INVOLVED INFRAUDULENT PONZI SCHEME IN KEBBI STATE – WATCH VIDEO
The police in Kebbi state have handed over 165 suspected illegal immigrants to the Nigeria Immigration Service.
The illegal immigrants were said to have been discovered in a house in the state capital, Birnin Kebbi.
According to a press release issued by Nafiu Abubakar, the Public relations officer, Kebbi state Police command; On January 31st, 2025, acting on intelligence reports, security operatives discovered over 200 individuals residing in a cramped three-bedroom flat in the Kuwait area of Birnin Kebbi.
A raid was subsequently carried out by detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), leading to the arrest of 165 occupants.
During investigations, authorities confirmed that all the suspects were from Francophone countries, including: 35 from Burkina Faso, 11 from Benin Republic, 5 from Niger Republic, 4 from Mali, And 110 from Ivory Coast.
Further inquiries revealed that none of the arrested individuals possessed valid immigration documents. Additionally, they were allegedly involved in a Ponzi scheme, an online investment scam notorious for its fraudulent activities.
Following preliminary investigations, the Kebbi State Police Command transferred the suspects to the Nigeria Immigration Service for profiling, further scrutiny, and necessary legal action.
Thanks police reiterated their commitment to curbing illegal migration and fraudulent activities in the state.
