Rivers lawmakers threaten to protest exclusion of state from FG’s fresh loan request

Members of the Rivers State House of Assembly have threatened to embark on a protest to the National Assembly against the exclusion of the state from states benefiting from the fresh loan request by the federal government.

The House issued the threat during plenary after a motion presented by the leader of the House, Martin Amaewhule, asking the House to condemn the exclusion.

The lawmakers urged the National Assembly not to approve the request by the President if Rivers State is not included in the list of benefiting states.

The House, however, resolved that the protest will be after “due consultation” with members of the National Assembly from Rivers State.

Speaker of the house, Ikuiyi Owaji-Ibani, while speaking on the motion, described the said exclusion as “divisive”.
