Voters in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital are showing little interest in the governorship and state assembly election taking place today.
Most voters completed both accreditation and voting within minutes as there were very few people at most polling centers visited by our correspondent.
The situation contrasts the experience of the presidential and national assembly election on February 25 during which election officials were unable to cope with number of voters who turned out to cast their ballot.
Some voters who spoke to SignatureTV’s Correspondent in Port Harcourt blamed the voter apathy on what they called the disappointment caused by the election umpire in the last election.
In some polling units SignatureTV Correspondent observed incidents of harassment and intimidation of both voters and some party agents by thugs in the Ogbumnuabali area of Port Harcourt.
There was however heavy security presence in many areas of Port Harcourt especially at polling units unlike in the just concluded presidential election.
