PDP philosopher and thinker, professor Jerry Gana, led the national chairman of a faction of the party, Taminu Turaki and governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde, to a closed door meeting with chieftains of the African Democratic Congress,ADC, in Abuja on Wednesday.

The ADC, whose chieftains hosted the meeting did not disclose the issues discussed at the meeting which lasted for over four hours.

The personalities at the meeting which took place at David Mark’s Abuja residence was the first indication that the meeting was momentous.

At the meeting were David Mark, national chairman of ADC, Rauf Aregbesola, national secretary,Peter Obi, poster boy for the coalition, Atiku Abubakar, former vice President, Aminu Tambuwal, former speaker of the house of representatives, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the leader of the Kwankwasiya movement, Rotimi Amaechi former Rivers State governor and many others.

That roll call triggered speculation that the Turaki-led faction of the PDP was emptying into the ADC.

Governor Seyi Mankinde however told reporters that the PDP chieftains took the whole of four hours to show solidarity with leaders of ADC who organised a peaceful protest on Wednesday to save Nigeria’s democracy.

If the Turaki-led faction of the PDP merges with the ADC, PDP would have transferred its substance to ADC, leaving a soulless party for the Wike faction.

The leadership struggle which has torn the PDP in the middle, with the Wike faction promising to not field a presidential candidate in the 2027 election has migrated to the ADC where the position of the national chairman is now a matter before the court.

INEC has also withdrawn its recognition of the David Mark leadership of the party, a situation which many Nigerians say endangers multi-party democracy in the country.
