Afrobeat singer, Oludipe David, popularly known as Spyro, showed up on Wednesday with a performance at the Labour Party rally ahead of the September 21 governorship election in Edo State.
The artiste performed his signature song titled “Who is your guy”, which has become an anthem in Labour Party Edo governorship campaigns for Olumide Akpata, the party’s flagbearer in the election.
He dressed in cream jeans and a grey shirt topping off his outfit with a red scarf repping the party’s colour.
Syro’s electrifying performance got party members and supporters on their feet with hit singles like “Billings” and “Shutdown” featuring Davido.
The rally which was held in Benin City had several Labour Party dignitaries in attendance, some of which are Peter Obi and his Vice Datti Baba-Ahmed.
Speaking before Spyro’s performance, the 2023 LP candidate, Peter Obi, lamented the hardship in the country, saying the solution is for the Edo electorate to vote better people into office.
“You have seen our party leadership here, that means this is a relation our party is fully supporting, the former Anambra governor said.
“Today Labour Party in line with what we’re doing, is the only big party in Nigeria for the first time since Nigeria was created that has a woman as our national chairman. It never happened before.
“This is the first time that there is a national chairman of a big party that was born after independence. So you see it’s time to retire these people. We’ve taken enough from them. Olu Akpata is not just our guy he is our governor.”
Addressing the crowd, Akpata focused his campaign on infrastructure development and social welfare and used this occasion to engage fans and party members.
