The fees paid by students of Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki have been slashed by 10 per cent.
The salaries of Academic Staff of the university were increased by 20 percent while that of Non Academic Staff were increased by 10 percent.
Governor Francis Nwifuru who announced the packages during the 12th-15th combined convocation of the University also directed that indigenes of Ebonyi State with first-class honours should be employed as Graduate Assistant Lecturers in the institution.
And to further boost the working morale of the staff and expand access to education, the governor increased the monthly subvention of the university from 200 million Naira to 280 million naira.
He urged the graduands to deploy their knowledge and skills and make meaningful contributions towards the growth of the state in particular the nation in general.
He stated that having undergone intellectual rigours, they are now equipped with survival skills urging them to deploy homegrown solutions to solve homegrown problems, before seeking external assistance.
Four prominent Nigerians including Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Tony Elumelu, David Umahi and Pius Anyim were bestowed with Honorary Doctorate Degrees.
