I want to be remembered as President who stabilized Nigeria, Buhari tells South-East leaders
President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday disclosed to the leaders and elders in the South East that his greatest legacy is to be remembered as the president who stabilized the country. He disclosed this in a speech delivered during a one-day official to Imo State.
The President who inaugurated major projects executed by Governor Hope Uzodinma’s administration said his administration will do everything constitutional to ensure the thirty-six states and the FCT are safe, secured and stabilized.
The President told South-East leaders that while fighting corruption in Nigeria had become very sophisticated and difficult, he would continue to strive to leave a lasting legacy of integrity and accountability in the system.

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, says his administration and the people of the state are committed to the peace of Nigeria.
He stated this on Thursday in a speech to welcome President Muhammadu Buhari who visited Imo to commission some projects.
He further stated that through inclusive governance, his administration has accommodated every Nigerian resident in Imo State.
Kaduna announces fresh resumption dates for schools
The Kaduna State government, on Thursday, released a new resumption schedule for its schools after months of disruption in the school calendar due to violent attacks by bandits in the state.
Commissioner of Education in the state, Shuhu Makarfi, said students of the state are expected to resume on Sunday, September 12, 2021. However, the commissioner said rather than resume for the third term that has been aborted in the state, the schools will resume the first term for the 2021/2022 academic calendar.
He added that the state has worked out strategies towards ensuring the completion of the third term through online platforms.
He said the resumption will be in phases, and that the whole students will resume within three weeks. While some schools have employed local vigilantes armed with local weapons, this has often proved ineffective against the heavily armed bandits.
Amotekun rescues 9 out of 12 kidnapped passengers in Ondo
Operatives of the Ondo state command of the southwest security network code-named Amotekun have rescued nine out of the twelve victims abducted by some bandits in the state. The passengers were abducted on Wednesday.
The passengers heading from Abuja to Lagos in an 18-seater bus were attacked by the armed men between the Idoani Ifira axis of the state. The incident occurred on the failed portion of the Idoani-Ifira road in Akoko Southeast local government area of the state.
The Commander of Amotekun in the state, Adetunji Adeleye said the victims were rescued after his men responded to a distress call from concerned citizens. He added that his men are combing the bush to rescue the three remaining victims.

Argentina captain Lionel Messi scored twice to break Pele’s record and become the leading international goal scorer in the history of South American football on Thursday.
The Paris Saint-Germain forward opened the scoring for Argentina in their World Cup qualifier against Bolivia at the Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires to tie Pele’s mark of 77 international goals.
The 34-year-old then struck his 78th international goal on 64 minutes to give Argentina a 2-0 lead. Messi’s double came in his 153rd appearance for Argentina, while his great rival Cristiano Ronaldo holds the outright record for goals scored in international football with 111 from 180 games.
