NDDC Has Been A Cash Cow for Politicians – Wike

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike on Tuesday said the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is a cash cow for politicians in the country.

He stated this during the commissioning of the Police Barracks, Special Protection Unit (SPU) base 6 at Omagwa in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

According to Governor Wike, the problem of the NDDC is not just the Niger Delta region but entire Nigeria, making reference to the promise by the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, that the NDDC would change to meet the aspirations of the people of the region, Wike said it is time for the commission to work.

N20bn Bail Out Loan: Court Fixes Oct 15 For Hearing of EFCC’s Suit Against Kogi

The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has fixed October 15, to hear all applications relating to an N20 billion bailout loan allegedly belonging to the Kogi State government, said to be warehoused by Sterling Bank Plc.

Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke fixed the date on Tuesday following an application made by counsel to the Kogi State Government, Professor Sam Erugo (SAN), who told the court that he needed time to study the counter affidavit filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to the processes.

Gunmen Attack Niger, Storm Palace of Emir of Kagara

Armed gunmen numbering about 60 have allegedly stormed Rafi Local Government Council of Niger State and invaded the palace of the Emir of Kagara.

The armed gunmen stormed the palace around 6:00 pm on Tuesday evening on 20 motorcycles, shooting sporadically, causing panicked residents to scamper for safety. However, the Emir, Alhaji Ahmed Attahiru (II) has been away for almost two weeks.

Petrol landing cost now N278, says MOMAN, crude reaches $80

The Major Oil Marketers Association has said that the landing cost of petrol has risen to N278 just as the price of crude oil in the international market reached $80 shortly on Tuesday, with experts worrying that subsidy payments would increase.

The international crude oil benchmark traded at $80.02 per barrel, its highest since October 2018, on Tuesday according to Oilprice.com.

Brent had fallen to $78.89 per barrel as of Tuesday, while the United States West Texas Intermediate traded 0.45 per cent lower at $75.11 per barrel.
