Bandits Convert Classrooms to Hideout in Zamfara State
Bandits terrorising residents of Zamfara State and forcing the closure of schools have converted some classrooms to personal use in the North West State.

According to residents, the headmaster of one primary school in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area of the state was once confronted by armed men who asked him to close lessons for the day as they intended to sleep in the classrooms which he did without any hesitation, knowing fully the consequences of not carrying out their order.

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed security chiefs to find tactics to solve the security challenges in the country, particularly in the North-West and North Central.

This is coming as President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, had a three-hour security meeting with Service Chiefs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba; Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola; Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Abubakar Malami; and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, were all in attendance.

NARD Strike: FG Insists No Doctor Is Being Owed Monthly Salary
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, has debunked rumours that the federal government was owing resident doctors.

According to him, no doctor or health worker in Nigeria is owed their monthly salary, adding that the striking doctors are using propaganda to complicate the reality of the Federal Government’s efforts to re-position the health sector.

The minister said this on Tuesday at the opening of the meeting of the Presidential Committee on Salaries with the leadership of the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) in Abuja.

Sexual Harassment: OAU Sacks Another Lecturer
The Governing Council of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has sacked another lecturer of the institution who was found guilty of sexual harassment against a female student.

This was stated in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Public Relations Officer of the University, Abiodun Olarewaju.

According to Olarewaju, the decision to dismiss Adebayo Mosobalaje of the Department of English Language in the Faculty of Arts was taken by the University Council at its last sitting on Monday, September 6.

Super Eagles Beat Cape Verde 2-1 In World Cup Qualifier
The Super Eagles of Nigeria have beaten the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde 2-1 in the World Cup Qualifiers in Mindelo.

Victor Osimhen’s strike and Kenny Rocha Santos’ own goal helped Nigeria come from behind to beat Cape Verde in their qualifying game.

However, a 75th-minute own goal by Cape Verde earned the Eagles the victory, a result that propelled the Super Eagles’ leadership of the pool as they await a home-and-away fixture against the Central African Republic next month.
