Police CSP Defies Sanwo-Olu’s Order To Vacate Magodo Estate, Claims AGF, IGP Sent Him

The lingering land dispute at the Magodo Phase II Estate in Lagos took a different dimension on Tuesday as a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) publicly defied the order of the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to vacate the premises.

The police officer affirmed that his team would only leave the premises on the directive of the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Inspector General of Police who had deployed them on the assignment.

Governor Sanwo-Olu arrived at the estate in company with some members of his cabinet, including the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of the state, Mr Moyosore Onigbanjo, and the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso, among others.

 

Uzodinma Fails To Name Sponsors Of Insecurity In Imo, warns Rochas

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma after announcing that he will mention the name of those sponsoring and inciting violence in the state on Tuesday, made a U-turn and failed to name the sponsors of attacks in the state.

At the Imo stakeholders meeting that took place at the Government House in Owerri on Tuesday, where the governor is expected to mention the names, Uzodinma craved the indulgence of the people that he would no longer mention the names but would leave security agencies to do their work and prosecute those found culpable.

The governor also took a swipe at the former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, for allegedly interfering in the affairs of his administration.

 

Lives of Ndigbo will be at risk should the stop national anthem in the region – Ohanaeze faults IPOB

Apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has faulted the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, over the ban it placed on Nigeria National Anthem across the zone.

However, in a statement on Wednesday by the Ohanaeze Secretary-General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro he cautioned that such an order would spell doom for the people of the region.

The group noted that the IPOB order will affect the ongoing diplomatic efforts to free Nnamdi Kanu and this may unleash bitterness on the South-East.

He declared that in order not to endanger the lives of Igbos “reciting of the Biafra anthem in public schools remains prohibited, forbidden and proscribed, as the South-East is still an integral part of Nigeria.

 

President Macron threatens France’s Unvaccinated

French President Emmanuel Macron has threatened to make life difficult for people in France who have not been vaccinated against Covid-19.

Reacting to the statement, political opponents said the strong language he used in the interview was not worthy of a president.

His comments came as a bill on Covid passes was delayed by opposition MPs uniting against the government.

 

Djokovic’s Australian Open Vaccine Exemption Ignites Backlash

Australians have reacted angrily to news that tennis player Novak Djokovic will play in the Australian Open after he was exempted from vaccination rules.

All players and staff at the tournament must be vaccinated or have an exemption granted by an expert independent panel.

Organisers said the defending champion had not been given special treatment.

Australians some of whom still cannot travel interstate or globally have criticised officials, politicians and Djokovic himself.
