FIRS Generates ₦4.9 Trillion Naira, Meets 98 percent Of 2020 Target
The Federal Inland Revenue Service says it realized 98 percent of the revenue target set for it by the federal government in the revised target occasioned by the COVID 19 pandemic.
The chairman of the service, Muhammed Nami stated this in Abuja on Tuesday while briefing the press on the performance of the service in the 2020 fiscal year.

Federal Government says Nigeria Can Store Up To 400,000 Doses of Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine
The Federal Government on Tuesday said the country has the capacity to store up to 400,000 doses of the expected COVID-19 vaccine.
The Executive Director of the National Primary Health Development Agency, Dr. Faisal Shuaib disclosed this during a tour of the National Strategic Cold Store in Abuja.
Nigeria is expected to receive 100,000 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine by the end of January.
The Pfizer vaccines must be stored at the ultra-cold temperature of -70°C. #
Buhari will be remembered like Trump says Fayose
Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, says President Muhammadu Buhari would be remembered like the outgoing American president, Donald Trump.
The former governor said Nigerians could not wait to see the end of the regime of President Buhari, just as Americans look forward to the exit of Donald Trump.
Buttressing his point Fayose said all the values that we share as a country – economy, security, human rights, rule of law, credible elections, and unity of the country have been destroyed under the watch of Buhari.
President Trump will exit the White House this Wednesday shortly before the inauguration of Democrat Joe Biden as the 46th President of the United States. #
OAU Announces Resumption Date, Cancels 2020/2021 Academic Session
The leadership of the Obafemi Awolowo University has announced the resumption date for the continuation of the 2019/2020 academic session, nearly 10 months after activities were suspended.
The decision which was contained in a statement on Tuesday by the registrar, M. I. Omosule, was said to have been reached after a meeting of the institution’s Senate.
According to the statement, Final year students in the Faculty of Pharmacy, Clinical Students in the College of Health Sciences, and year four (4) students in the Faculty of Agriculture are to resume 7th February, while all other students are to attend their classes virtually.
In addition, the Senate approved the cancellation of the 2020/2021 Academic Session. #
FG’s Goal To Lift 20m Nigerians Out Of Poverty In Two Years Now Within Reach – Osinbajo
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) has said that the Federal Government’s vision to lift at least 20 million Nigerians out of poverty in the next two years is now within reach.
Professor Osinbajo stated this on Tuesday in Abuja during the virtual flag-off of the cash transfer scheme, called the Rapid Response Register, to be facilitated through a wholly technology-based approach.
This followed the successful activation of the Economic Sustainability Plan’s Cash Transfer scheme aimed at delivering financial support to at least 1 million urban-based households.
According to the Vice President, Rapid Response Register is a means by which the urban poor and vulnerable population can be speedily identified using geographic satellite technology and other related means for the purposes of delivering cash to households affected by the fallouts of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country. #
